Way back in 1997, when the Internet was still in its infancy, no one knew what a txt was, and dinosaurs still roamed the earth. An IT consultant fresh back from 5 years in the UK formed a small Web Design company. Soon realising that he had all the graphic design skills of a four year old, he invited a trusted colleague to join him in this new and exciting venture. Apex Internet was born.

Despite early success in the field, it soon became apparent that designing a Website was only half the story. To succeed, a Website needed visitors. Being regular users of those well known Search Engines Magellan, Infoseek and Snap, (what do you mean they no longer exist?) we decided that the Search Engines were the answer. We had never heard of Search Engine Optimisation. PPC and Reciprocal Linking were still 3-4 years in the future, and the Search Industry simply didn't exist yet. Like Columbus, Cook and Armstrong we were stepping out into unchartered territory...!!.

Back in those early days, all you had to do to get a site ranking was stuff keywords into the meta keywords tag, write a nice meta description tag, and submit the site to the Search Engines. There was no competition, because no one else was doing what we did. There wasn't even a name for what we were doing.....oh how we miss those days!!

Nowadays of course the Search Industry has come of age and is extremely competitive. The Internet has changed, Search Engines have become a lot cleverer and more technical. Competition among Websites has increased dramatically.
